The MSLC is made up of midwives from the management team, a representative from the obstetric team, senior health visitors, breastfeeding specialists, antenatal educators and of course local parents who care passionately about local maternity services. We work together to look at the way services are structured and designed and together, we make recommendations for improvements.
The MSLC is led by a chair person – currently Hannah Sherlock. Hannah runs a property company with her husband Kieran and has two children who are now 6 and 8. Both were born at home and Hannah co-ordinates the Brighton and Hove home birth support group. But Hannah’s interest in birth extends far beyond home birth and she campaigns locally and nationally for improvements across all maternity services – from increased midwife numbers to a greater awareness of the needs of women with mental health issues.
